The United States to ease travel restrictions on all fully vaccinated foreign visitors starting in November, the White House said Monday, relaxing a patchwork of bans that had begun to cause fury in Europe and replacing them with more uniform requirements for inbound international air passengers.

AUSTRALIA: QLD pauses hotel quarantine for two weeks

Premier Palaszczuk has announced QLD's hotel quarantine system is at capacity and from noon on Wednesday, 25 August 2021, hotel quarantine arrivals would be paused for two weeks. People with compassionate exemptions and medical exemptions are not included in this, but people who are relocating from other states will need to wait. No one currently in a declared hotspot will be permitted to enter QLD’s hotel quarantine for two weeks, except for those with exemptions such as compassionate reasons. New arrivals and QLD residents will have to reapply for a border pass.

UNITED STATES: Ireland to lift quarantine for Americans

As of July 19, U.S. visitors who have been vaccinated, have a negative PCR test within 72 hours of arrival or have recovered from COVID-19 in the last six months will be able to visit Ireland and they will not have to quarantine.

Marriott International has announced that members on its Bonvoy loyalty program can now earn points via Uber, in an effort to diversify the hotel brand's loyalty offering amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the partnership, Bonvoy members can earn points toward free nights at Marriott properties, including home rentals, by ordering food delivery via Uber Eats or requesting select Uber rides. The perk is available in the United States, and those who sign up and have at least one qualifying transaction by May 31 will get 2,000 Bonvoy bonus points.

HILTON HOTELS: Hilton offers event planners COVID-19 testing and health screening resources for their attendees

AMRESORTS: Luxury resort brand to begin in-house COVID-19 testing from 26 January 2021

The brand has announced that from 26 January it will begin on-property COVID-19 antigen testing across the majority of its properties, with guests able to schedule an onsite departure test via their concierge. Tests will be administered by international private hospital network 'Hospiten', with results available the same day. The Hospiten testing program will be available across most AMResorts destinations, except for Costa Rica, Curacao, St. Martin and Acapulco, Ixtapa and Huatulco, Mexico. AMResorts' portfolio, located throughout Mexico, Jamaica, Curacao, the Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama and Spain, includes 67 properties under the Breathless, Zoetry, Secrets, Dreams, Now, Reflect, Sunscape and Alua brands.

MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL: Hotel chain to pilot pre-event COVID-19 testing in U.S. properties

In a bid to boost confidence amongst business travellers and revive the brand’s events business, Marriott has announced that it will begin to roll-out pre-event COVID-19 testing from January, initially in U.S. properties in Florida, Tennessee, Texas and Colorado. It is hoped that the scheme, which will include options ranging from 15-minute rapid testing to PCR tests, will then be able to roll out in all Marriott brands and properties who wish to participate.

Sun City’s hotels and casino, located in South Africa's north-west at the border of Pilanesberg National Park, is due to re-open from 2 September, according to a notice on the resort's website. The Valley of the Waves and Sun Central, adjoining entertainment centres with retailers and restaurants, will though remain closed until further notice. Only hotel residents, MVG members and guests with confirmed golf bookings will be allowed to enter the resort, which will adhere to strict COVID-19 health protocols including hand sanitising, temperature checks, the completion of medical screening questionnaires and the wearing of a mask at all times.

LOEWS HOTELS: Brand temporarily suspends hotel operations at Universal Orlando properties

The U.S. luxury hospitality brand has announced that from 21 August it will suspend operations at two Universal Orlando resorts - the Loews Sapphire Falls Resort and Universal's Aventura Hotel. In a statement, Loews said that in the current climate they have decided to consolidate their hotel operations. It is currently unclear when the resorts may be set to re-open.
