P&O CRUISES: Suspension of sailings extended until 12 November 2020

The cruise line has extended its suspension of sailings until mid-November and cancelled a pair of long-haul itineraries next year following guidance from the British foreign office. Guests booked to sail on cancelled cruises will automatically receive a 125% future cruise credit or they can opt for a 100% refund.

CELEBRITY CRUISES: Global suspension of most cruises now extended until 31 October 2020

Celebrity Cruises, a member of the Royal Caribbean group, has re-confirmed that the majority of sailings globally have been voluntarily extended until at least 31 October. In a statement the operator cited that the health and safety of their guests, crew, and the communities they visit is their top priority during the COVID-19 pandemic. The suspension currently only excludes sailings from China and Australia.

NORWAY: Country suspends docking for cruise ships with over 100 passengers

The country's government has announced that it has stopped all cruise ships with more than 100 people on board from disembarking in Norwegian ports for 14 days effective yesterday, 3 August; this follows a recent outbreak of COVID-19 on board a ship operated by Norwegian company Hurtigruten. Any ships that have not yet departed will not be able to dock at Norwegian ports while the restriction is in effect.

CENTURY CRUISES: River cruise provider to resume sailings on China's Yangtze river

The river cruise line, headquartered in China's Chongqing, has announced that it will resume multi-day cruise programs on the country's Yangtze and Jialing rivers in August, around eight months after the COVID-19 pandemic started. UNITED STATES: Suspension on many U.S cruises extended until 30 September 2020

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the U.S. have extended a no-sail order for cruise ships from ports in the country through to 30 September - it was previously set to expire on 24 July. The order applies to ships with the capacity to carry 250 passengers or more, meaning that a number of small-ship ocean and river operators are though excluded and free to resume sailings this summer.

HURTIGRUTEN: Norwegian cruise line to increase sailings from September 2020

Norway-based cruise line Hurtigruten have announced plans to ramp up operations by putting 14 of its 16 ships back into service by the end of September; last month, they were already have said to put the first ocean cruise ship in the world back into action, when the Finnmarken departed on 16 June. Sailings resuming in September will include short-break expeditions around the British Isles.

UNITED STATES: U.S cruise suspension set to extend until 15 September 2020

Cruise sailings in the U.S have largely been suspended until 15 September, after member operators of Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) have voluntary extended their pauses in operations. Although U.S authorities are set to lift the suspension on sailings of 250 people or more from 24 July, many operators agree that they will need more time to resolve barriers to resuming their cruises. Members of CLIA include Carnival, Disney, Holland America Line, Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, Celebrity and Princess Cruises.

Celebrity Cruises have announced an extension on the suspension of some departures; this is in response a decision by the government of Canada to restrict cruise ships carrying more than 100 guests until 31 October. Sailings to Canada and Alaska, plus Fall itineraries such as Canada/New England, Hawaii and a few repositioning cruises are affected. Other sailings remain suspended until 31 July.
