The country's civil aviation authority said today that it will extend a suspension of international flights by a month due to COVID-19; the additional month suspension begins on 22 June and will run through to 22 July.

The country remains at alert level three, meaning both domestic travel for tourism and all international travel will not take place until further notice; international flights are permitted to operate only for repatriation, medevac and other essential purposes. Domestic travel for business or essential purposes will continue on limited routes and with restricted capacity.

The airline has announced that passenger flights between Auckland and Shanghai will resume once per week from 22 June. Flight number NZ289 will leave Auckland on a Monday, and return from Shanghai on a Wednesday. The service will be operated by a Boeing 787-9 aircraft and will remain on this schedule until 30 August, unless otherwise advised.

The United States Department of Homeland Security has announced that it will extend existing restrictions on non-essential travel at land ports of entry with Canada and Mexico for at least another 30 days from 23 June, when the restriction was previously due to expire.

In a continuation of the gradual lifting of restrictions at Hong Kong International Airport, it is now permitted for passengers to transit using different airlines, although boarding passes and hold baggage must be printed and checked through to the final destination.

The country's foreign ministry announced today that on 30 June Sweden will lift its advice against non-essential travel to 10 European countries - Greece, Croatia, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Slovenia, France, Iceland, Belgium, Switzerland and Luxembourg.

In a follow up to previous alerts regarding restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border, the Canadian prime minister has announced that a suspension on non-essential travel between the two countries will remain in place until 21 July.

The airline has reportedly suspended all international flights until at least 24 October, with the exception of some services to New Zealand.

Macau’s government have announced that from 12.00 (local time) on 17 June, it will require all arrivals who have been to Beijing within two weeks prior to entering the city will be put under 14 days of medical observation at a designated location.

Singapore's government has announced a review of several of the border measures currently in place; upcoming changes include new passenger testing from 23.59 (local time) on 17 June, in addition to the existing mandatory 14-day Stay-Home Notice (SHN). Further long term pass holders currently outside Singapore will also be permitted to return, and arrivals from some destinations will no longer be required to serve their SHN at a dedicated facility.

The country's government has today raised its emergency response level from two to three, in an effort to contain a COVID-19 outbreak which some fear will lead to a city-wide lockdown. Many domestic flights to Beijing were today cancelled, schools were closed and some neighbourhoods have been blocked off in an attempt to curb movement.

The government of the state of South Australia will reopen the state's borders to Western Australia, Tasmania and the Northern Territory from midnight (16 June) as it further accelerates the easing of COVID-19 restrictions. The change means travellers from those jurisdictions will no longer need to isolate themselves for 14 days when they arrive in South Australia.

The rail operator has published updated information on safety and hygiene measures, flexible travel policies and revised timetables to assist passengers.

Dubai-based Emirates is planning to open ‘air bridges’ with European countries, according to local media reports. Air bridges, also referred to as ‘travel corridors’, would allow tourists to travel between two countries during the current COVID-19 pandemic, without needing to quarantine.

The airline has announced a revision of VAT tax (K7) which has increased from 5% to 15% for domestic tickets. These taxes do not apply for international tickets.

The airline has announced that the suspension of all southbound flights will now be extended until at least 31 July.

The Philippine Embassy in New Delhi reminds the Filipino community in India that the Embassy is open for passport services, including renewal and extension.

Spanish airport operator Aena said today that it would re-open Terminal 1 of Madrid’s Barajas Airport on 1 July after three months of closure, while some terminals at Barcelona’s El Prat Airport will re-open through July and August. Barajas’s Terminal 4 was already open, while Barcelona had kept parts of its Terminal 1 open throughout Spain’s COVID-19 border closures.

The country has today re-opened borders to international arrivals; its national carrier, Ukraine International Airlines, is expected to resume international services within the next week, and currently a 14 day arrival quarantine is still in place until at least 22 June.

The airline has today announced an updated Summer schedule from 5 July to 4 August; flights to 45 destinations are planned including 39 in Canada, five in the U.S. and one in Mexico.
