UAE : finally off UK red list as the Emirates turn amber

The UAE and Bahrain will be removed from the UK's travel red list, the British government announced on Wednesday night, providing a major boost to tourism and allowing families to be reunited. They will join other amber list countries, meaning that people entering England from these points of origin do not have to pay to quarantine in a government hotel for 10 days.

AUSTRALIA: Tasmania declares all of Victoria high-risk

Premier Peter Gutwein has announced that all of Victoria has been declared as high-risk level 2 as of 8.00pm on Thursday, 5 August 2021. Victoria has declared 11 Queensland local government areas red zones under the state's traffic light permit system. The change applies to the City of Brisbane, Moreton Bay Regional Council, City of Gold Coast, City of Ipswich, Lockyer Valley Regional Council, Logan City, Noosa Shire Council, Redland City, Scenic Rim Regional Council, Somerset Regional Council and Sunshine Coast Regional Council. The red zone declaration means Victorians returning home from the affected areas after 8:00pm on Saturday, July 31 must quarantine for 14 days.

Anyone who was in South-East Queensland at or after 1am on Saturday, 31 July 2021 is required to follow the same lockdown rules even if they are no longer in South-East Queensland.

UNITED KINGDOM: US and EU travellers can avoid UK quarantine

People who were fully vaccinated in the EU or US will not need to isolate when coming to England, Scotland and Wales from an amber list country. After a meeting of senior UK government ministers yesterday 28 July, the go-ahead was given to treat fully inoculated travellers from the US and Europe the same as British residents, from Monday 2 August at 04:00 am. Transport Secretary, Grant Shapps, confirmed the changes would apply to people who are fully inoculated with a vaccine approved by the US and EU medicines regulators. Travellers will still need to take either a lateral flow or PCR test pre-departure and a PCR test on the second day after they arrive.

Premier Gladys Berejiklian has announced the current lockdown affecting Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour will be extended for another four weeks until 12:01am on Saturday, 28 August 2021. Manchester Airport : welcomes new airlines to T2 development

Manchester Airport has confirmed a new tranche of airlines will be moving into the Terminal Two development. The facility opened to its first customers last week, with flights initially being operated by Jet2.com, TUI and then Singapore Airlines. SOUTH AFRICA: South Africa moves to adjusted alert level three

South Africa will move to adjusted alert level three with immediate effect. All COVID-19 health and safety protocols must be followed, including observance of guidelines for social distancing, sanitation, hygiene and use of appropriate personal protective equipment, like cloth face masks. The following measures will be implemented - A curfew will be in place between 10h00 pm and 04h00 am. Should your travel to/from an airport fall outside of curfew hours, you will need to produce your ticket or travel itinerary to show your reason for travel. Inter-provincial travel will resume. All gatherings are permitted however only a minimum of 50 people indoors and 100 people outdoors will be allowed. Smaller venues are only permitted to operate at 50% capacity. Non-essential establishments such as restaurants, taverns, bars and fitness centers may open however will need to close by 21h00 pm in light of curfew. The sale of alcohol at retail outlets for off-site consumption is only permitted Monday to Thursday, between 10h00 am and 18h00 pm. The sale of alcohol for on-site consumption is permitted as per licensing conditions and up to 20h00pm. Schools will re-open on 26 July 2021 according to strict health protocols.

AUSTRALIA: QLD closes border to NSW and extends make mandate

QLD will close its border to NSW from 01.00am on Friday, 23 July 2021. NSW will remain a declared hotspot for four weeks, with a possible earlier review pending the outcome of their current outbreak. NSW/QLD border zone residents can only enter the state for essential reasons. This includes: Healthcare, work, education, essential shopping and caring for vulnerable people. QLD residents will be able to travel into the NSW border zone for similar reasons, but not further than the border zone. QLD residents can return from non-border zone locations in NSW, but will need to complete 14 days in hotel quarantine. Face mask restrictions will continue to apply for South East Queensland until Friday, 30 July 2021. This includes anyone who has been to the impacted areas in South East Queensland in the last 14 days. Other restrictions have been eased.
