UNITED AIRLINES: Flights to European and Asian destinations to resume in July 2020

United Airlines has announced that July will see the resumption of services in Asia to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Seoul. It will also increase transatlantic services between the US and cities across Europe; capacity in July will be down around 75% compared to the same month last year, versus 90% down in June compared to the same month last year.

SPAIN: Lockdown extended for 15 days until 21 June 2020

The country's prime minister announced today that Spain needs 15 more days of lockdown until 21 June “to finish with the pandemic once and for all”, and is seeking an extension from parliament. From 21 June a national state of emergency will end and with it the lockdown, allowing citizens to move freely in their regions. From 1 July, citizens will be able to move throughout the country and overseas visitors are expected to be permitted entry.

GREECE: Passengers from 29 countries to be permitted entry from 15 June 2020

The country's government said today that Greece will open to arrivals from 29 countries from 15 June, which coincides with the start of its peak tourism season. Passengers will be randomly tested, and the list will be updated before 1 July. The countries are: Germany, Austria, Denmark, Norway, Cyprus, Israel, Switzerland, Japan, Malta, Bulgaria, China, Croatia, Australia, New Zealand, North Macedonia, Albania, Estonia, Latvia, Lebanon, Lithuania, Hungary, South Korea, Serbia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia, Slovakia, Czech Republic and Finland.

The group will begin opening select properties in Portugal, starting on 5 June. LUFTHANSA GROUP: Flight schedule to expand significantly in June 2020

The airlines belonging to the Lufthansa group are significantly expanding their services in the second half of June 2020. Lufthansa alone will resume flights to around 20 European destinations from Frankfurt International Airport and 34 from Munich International Airport, from 15 June onwards; Austrian Airlines, SWISS, Eurowings and Brussels Airlines will also either add further services or resume suspended operations.

AUSTRIAN AIRLINES: Airline set to resume flights from 15 June 2020

The airline has announced today that it plans to resume flights from 15 June. Flights will resume to European destinations including London, Paris and Brussels. From 22 June more destinations will be added, bringing the total to 37.

HUNGARY & SLOVENIA: Travel between the two countries by citizens to resume

Hungary and Slovenia have today eased COVID-19 border restrictions to allow travel by their citizens between the two countries, including the purposes of business travel, their foreign ministers told a joint press conference at the border. From today, citizens can travel between the two countries without any limitation or quarantine.

NORWAY: Business travel from other Nordic countries to resume from 1 June 2020

Norway have said that it will allow entry to business travellers from all other Nordic countries from 1 June, in an announcement made by its government today. The new rules mean business travellers arriving from Denmark, Finland, Iceland and Sweden will no longer be subject to a mandatory 10 day quarantine, which is currently the case for almost all arrivals from overseas.

GERMANY: A warning against travel to 26 EU countries to be lifted by 15 June 2020

Germany will lift a warning against travel to 26 fellow EU countries from 15 June, its foreign minister said today. A government source also said that the step would also include non-EU member states Britain, Iceland, Norway, Switzerland and Liechtenstein. This now opens the way to separate pieces of advice on travel for given regions, and the German cabinet is expected to formally approve the relaxed guidelines for each of those countries next week.

AUSTRIA: Hotels are due to re-open from 29 May 2020

Austria has gradually been easing restrictions related to COVID-19 for over a month, with shops, restaurants, bars and some museums having already been opened to visitors; from 29 May, hotels are to follow. In a bid to encourage both leisure and business travel to return, the country has planned a significant expansion to its COVID-19 testing capacity in order to screen hotel staff.

ALITALIA: Services from Rome to London and New York to resume from 2 June 2020

The airline has announced plans to ramp up services next month, including the resumption of its non-stop Rome-New York routes from 2 June. Alitalia is currently operating about 12% of flights compared with this time last year, but says it will resume direct services from Rome to Madrid and Barcelona in June, as well as flights between Milan and southern Italy. In total the airline will operate 30 routes to 25 airports (15 in Italy and ten elsewhere), offering around 36 per cent more flights than in May.

NETWORK RAIL: UK train network to add an extra 3,000 daily services

Network Rail has from today added extra services to aid social distancing, starting with an additional 3,000 trains per day. Passenger carrying capacity with these measures in place, however, remains very constrained with the ability to carry only around 10-13% of normal levels.

FINNAIR: Airline plans to resume flights to 40 destinations from 1 July 2020

The airline has today published a new traffic plan, in a bid to 'ramp up' its list of destinations from 1 July. As well as regular services across Europe, passengers will be able to access 11 weekly services to Japan plus others to Chinese cities. From August, they plan to resume services to New York, the airline's key US destination.
