CHINA: Notice of the Civil Aviation Administration on adjusting international passenger flights

Today the Civil Aviation Authority of China adjusted its measures in the number of international passenger flights allowed. Chinese and foreign airlines who were not listed in the "fifth phase" flight plan may now choose a port city and operate 1 international passenger flight per week. The airlines which were included in the "fifth phase" flight plan may continue to operate one flight per week.

EMIRATES: Flights to an additional 16 destinations due to resume from 15 June 2020

Emirates has announced today that from 15 June, flights and transit services will be resumed between Dubai International Airport and a further 16 cities. Flights will shortly be available to Bahrain, Manchester, Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, New York JFK, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Hong Kong, Perth and Brisbane.

VIRGIN ATLANTIC: Flights to some destinations to resume from 20 July 2020

Virgin Atlantic have today announced that from 20 July they will resume a number of services from London Heathrow. The airline will operate flights to Orlando, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong and Shanghai. They have also introduced industry-leading health and safety measures to ensure passenger confidence.

SINGAPORE: Approved travellers on Singapore-China ‘fast lane’ arrangement need not serve 14-day quarantine, but must get COVID-19 swab tests

Approved travellers must take a COVID-19 swab test within 48 hours before departure and another upon arrival at their own cost, and must adhere to a controlled itinerary that is supervised by the host company or government agency for the first 14 days.

UNITED STATES: US President announces ban on flights by Chinese Airlines from 16 June 2020

It was announced today that from 16 June the US government would ban Chinese passenger flights from flying to the United States, in a move seen to be a penalisation upon China for 'failing to comply' with an existing arrangement between the two countries. The order applies to Air China, China Eastern Airlines, China Southern Airlines and Hainan Airlines - as well as smaller Sichuan Airlines and Xiamen Airlines.

KLM: Airline to restore flights to 73 destinations by July 2020

The airline announced today that by July it intends to restore services to 73 destinations, which is more than double the number of routes flown in May. Destinations in Europe will include Alicante, Bilbao, Bologna, Ibiza, Istanbul, Nice, Porto, Catania and Split; also considered will be long haul services including to Jakarta, Denpasar, Washington D.C., San Francisco, Vancouver and Calgary, depending on the easing of travel restrictions.

UNITED AIRLINES: Flights to European and Asian destinations to resume in July 2020

United Airlines has announced that July will see the resumption of services in Asia to Tokyo, Hong Kong, Singapore and Seoul. It will also increase transatlantic services between the US and cities across Europe; capacity in July will be down around 75% compared to the same month last year, versus 90% down in June compared to the same month last year.

INDIA: International business travel permitted by Bureau of Immigration

The Indian Ministry of Home Affairs has issued new guidelines permitting certain categories of foreign nationals to travel to India. This includes for the purposes of business travel, as well as visitors employed in areas such as healthcare and engineering. Eligible arrivals who previously held a valid visa will either need to apply for a new one, or get it re-validated in the case long-term multiple entry business visas.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES: Flights to 12 cities will be reinstated in June and July 2020

Singapore Airlines and regional wing SilkAir will reinstate certain flights in June and July, subject to regulatory approvals. Reinstated scheduled services include flights to Adelaide, Amsterdam, Auckland, Barcelona, Brisbane, Cebu, Christchurch, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Medan, Melbourne and Osaka.

SINGAPORE: Singapore and China will launch ‘fast lane’ arrangement starting 8 June 2020 for essential travel

For a start, the new scheme will apply only to business and official travel, for flights between Singapore and six provinces in China: Shanghai, Tianjin, Chongqing, Guangdong, Jiangsu and Zhejiang. The arrangement includes having COVID-19 prevent and control measures in place, and will be gradually expanded to the other Chinese provinces and municipalities.

VIETNAM: Visitors from 80 countries to be issued e-visas for entry from 1 July 2020

The country's government has announced that it will allow citizens from 80 countries to enter and exit Vietnam using electronic visas from 1 July. Also released is a list of 37 border gates through which visitors will be able to enter and exit; this comprises of 8 international airports, 16 land ports and 13 seaports.

SINGAPORE: Travellers allowed to transit through Changi Airport from 2 June 2020

Travellers will gradually be allowed to transit through Changi Airport from 2 June, as Singapore embarks on its phased exit from the circuit breaker period. Stringent measures will be in place to ensure transit passengers remain in designated facilities within the transit area and do not mix with other passengers at the airport. Existing precautionary measures, such as safe distancing, will also continue to be enforced.

FINNAIR: Airline plans to resume flights to 40 destinations from 1 July 2020

The airline has today published a new traffic plan, in a bid to 'ramp up' its list of destinations from 1 July. As well as regular services across Europe, passengers will be able to access 11 weekly services to Japan plus others to Chinese cities. From August, they plan to resume services to New York, the airline's key US destination.

SINGAPORE AIRLINES: Flights reinstated between Singapore and Sydney from 3 April 2020

Singapore Airlines has announced plans to reinstate additional flights between Singapore and Sydney (flights SQ211 & SQ232), during the period of 3 April to 30 May. The flights have been reinstated to further increase connectivity between the two cities and ensure essential passenger and cargo movements can continue.
