          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline expands partnership with LATAM Airlines Brasil to expand available flight offering

          The middle-eastern airline has increased its São Paulo services to ten weekly flights and also expanded a partnership with LATAM Airlines Brasil, allowing their passengers to book travel on 45 additional LATAM Airlines Brasil flights and have access to over 40 domestic and international destinations on the South American carrier’s network. This includes Brasilia, Curitiba, Porto Velho, Rio Branco, Rio de Janeiro, São José, Lima (Peru), Montevideo (Uruguay) and Santiago (Chile).

          QANTAS: Airline resumes booking for international flights from 1 July 2021

          The Australian airline has said that it has started taking bookings for international flights from 1 July; Qantas had previously said that it did not expect to fly internationally until much later in the year. Ticket sales for Japan, Hong Kong and Singapore, which had been set to start in March, have been pushed back to July, while other destinations like London have been brought forward from October. New Zealand is the only overseas destination to which Qantas is currently flying.

          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline to launch U.S. services to Seattle from 29 January 2021

          The middle-eastern airline has announced that it will bring forward the launch of four weekly flights to Seattle on its Boeing 777 aircraft to the new date of 29 January. The move will mean that the airline's U.S. network will grow to 11 gateways, surpassing the number of destinations they operated in the country pre-COVID-19.

          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline expands partnership with Oman Air

          The airline has continued to expand its portfolio of partnerships by signing an expanded 'codeshare' agreement with Oman Air. The deal is designed to boost connectivity and provide more flexible travel options for customers. The expanded agreement is the first step in further strengthening strategic cooperation between the two airlines that first began in 2000. Sales of the additional destinations will commence in 2021.

          WIZZ AIR: Airline to launch new summer connections from the UK

          The airline has confirmed the addition of six new flight routes to its network out of the UK. The new routes, launching in the spring, offer connections between Doncaster Sheffield, Gatwick and London Luton airports and sunshine destinations in Turkey, Bulgaria, Spain and Greece. The new holiday routes include four summer-only routes from Doncaster Sheffield Airport.

          EMIRATES: Airline to resume operations of its Airbus A380 aircraft to São Paulo from January 2021

          The Dubai-based airline has announced that it will be operating its flagship Airbus A380 aircraft on the Dubai-Sao Paulo route between 9-30 January. The Emirates A380 will be deployed four times weekly to Sao Paulo in response to the summer season increase in demand for travel to and from Brazil. This will be the first time that the aircraft returns to South America since the suspension of passenger flights due to the COVID-19 pandemic in March.

          SEYCHELLES: Country increases entry restrictions for passengers from South Africa from 31 December 2020

          The country's government has announced that from 31 December, South Africa will no longer feature on the list of countries from which visitors may travel to Seychelles. In addition, between 23 December and 31 December all visitors arriving from South Africa will not be permitted to stay in their private residence, but will have to book in to a category 'two' establishment for at least 10 days before being tested for COVID-19, and if negative can complete the remaining four days at home or in a category 'one' establishment.

          KLM: Airline confirms that it will continue flights from South Africa to Amsterdam from 23 December 2020

          The airline has confirmed that it will continue flights from South Africa to Amsterdam, following a previous announcement of a reduction in operations on the route from 13 December onwards. The Dutch Government also issued new regulations requiring all travellers from South Africa to present a valid, negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained a maximum of 72 hours prior to arrival into the country.

          MAURITIUS: Country's government restricts entry to passengers from the UK and South Africa

          The country's government has announced that, following the continuous and rapid spread of the COVID-19 virus in the United Kingdom and South Africa, the following precautionary measures have been adopted by the Mauritian authorities; non-resident travellers who come from or have been in transit in the United Kingdom and South Africa during the last 14 days (as at 21 December 2020) will not be allowed to enter the country until 31 December 2020.

          SWISS AIR LINES: Airline suspends flights to and from the UK and South Africa until further notice

          The airline has announced that as of midnight on 21 December 2020 until further notice, all passenger flights to and from the United Kingdom as well as South Africa are to be suspended; SWISS most recently served London Heathrow, London Gatwick and Manchester airports in the UK and Johannesburg in South Africa. Customers affected by the suspended flights will be informed by the airline, and flexible re-booking options continue to apply.

          UNITED AIRLINES: Airline to start flights from Johannesburg to New York in March 2021

          The airline has announced that from 28 March it will commence a non-stop daily service from South Africa's Johannesburg O.R. Tambo International Airport to New York Newark Airport; the resumption of the route will also facilitate onward connections to multiple destinations across the Americas.

          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline resumes flights from London Gatwick Airport

          The airline has now resumed services to London Gatwick Airport, operating three flights per week from its Doha hub. The resumption means the carrier is now offering 55 flights a week in total from London Gatwick, London Heathrow, Manchester and Edinburgh airports during December. The airline also resumes flights from Doha to the Seychelles from today, 15 December.

          LONDON CITY AIRPORT: Flights to Geneva to resume from 19 December 2020

          SRILANKAN AIRLINES: Airline to increase flights to Singapore from 18 December 2020

          The airline, the national carrier of Sri Lanka and a member of the oneworld Alliance, is set to increase the frequency of passenger flights from the country;s capital of Colombo to Singapore from once a week to three-times weekly, starting from 18 December. In addition to this, SriLankan Airlines will also operate a weekly service between Kuala Lumpur and Colombo every Friday.

          JAPAN AIRLINES: Airline introduces free COVID-19 insurance policy for passengers

          The airline has announced that it is the latest carrier to provide free COVID-19 insurance cover for passengers who test positive for the virus while travelling. The policies are provided by Allianz Travel and cover medical costs relating to a positive diagnosis, as well as isolation and additional travel costs. The cover applies to all passengers on Japan Airlines (JAL) marketed and operated flights for travel between 23 December 2020 and 30 June 2021, and is valid for 31 days from the first leg of the journey.

          UNITED AIRLINES: Airline introduces contactless 'Agent on Demand' airport service

          The airline has launched their new ‘Agent on Demand’ initiative to facilitate touchless customer service at their airport hubs in Chicago and Houston, with the rollout expected to reach all United hubs by the end of the month. Passengers are able to communicate directly with customer service representatives via a mobile app for tasks such as seat assignments, upgrades and rebooking; access is granted via the scanning of a QR code within the airport and communication is via video call, voice or text.

          CEBU PACIFIC: Philippine airline increases flights to Asia travel hubs

          Philippine low-cost airline Cebu Pacific has announced that it is increasing flight frequency between the country's capital of Manila and key Asian destinations including Singapore, South Korea, Hong Kong, Dubai and Japan; as border restrictions internationally begin to ease, the airline has done so to cater to increased demands for flights during the festive season. Flights between Manila and Singapore will now operate with an increased frequency of three times weekly, while flights between Manila and Dubai will operate six times weekly.

          EMIRATES: Airline issues peak travel advisory for Dubai International Airport

          The Dubai-based airline has announced that it is expecting a busy holiday travel period, and asks customers departing from Terminal 3 of Dubai International Airport to arrive at least three hours ahead of departure to allow extra time for check‑in and security screening. Passengers are also encouraged to use Emirates’ self check‑in and bag drop kiosks for a more seamless airport experience, with less queues and waiting time during the peak period.

          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline to begin U.S. flights to Seattle from 15 March 2021

          The airline has announced that it will add flights to Seattle to its network from 15 March, launching a four-times weekly service from Doha using a two-class Airbus A350-900 aircraft. Seattle is the second U.S. destination added by the airline during the COVID-19 pandemic, following services to San Francisco which are due to launch on 15 December, alongside a frequent flyer program with Alaska Airlines. In total, from 15 March the airline will be operating 59 weekly flights to 11 U.S. destinations.
