          EMIRATES: Airline launches 'biometric pathway' for Dubai passengers

          Emirates has launched an integrated biometric path at Dubai International airport for a contactless airport experience open to passengers travelling from and through Dubai. The path will give passengers a seamless travel journey from check-in to the boarding gates, improving customer flow through the airport with less document checks and less queuing. Utilising the latest biometric technology – a mix of facial and iris recognition, Emirates passengers can now check in for their flight, complete immigration formalities, enter the Emirates Lounge and board their flights, simply by passing through the airport.

          AIR ARABIA: Mandatory registration for Indian nationals travelling to India

          Air Arabia has introduced a mandatory online pre-registration requirement for Indian nationals travelling to India; it is mandatory for passengers to present a copy of the confirmation email received upon successful pre-registration, at the time of check-in. Passengers who fail to present it will not be accepted on the flight.

          DELTA AIR LINES: Airline delays resumption of flights to South Africa until 8 January 2021

          The U.S. airline has announced that plans to re-start flights between Hartsfield–Jackson Atlanta International Airport and both Johannesburg and Cape Town have now been delayed until at least 8 January 2021. Although the reintroduction of the flight was initially planned for October, the airline has said that due to the ongoing impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, travel restrictions and customer demand, Delta has adjust flight schedules.

          SOUTHWEST AIRLINES: Airline to begin services from Chicago O'Hare on 14 February 2021

          The U.S. airline has announced that it will launch its first five flight routes from Chicago O'Hare on 14 February; Southwest will fly four times daily from O'Hare to Nashville, Baltimore and Dallas Love Field. The airline will also fly six times daily from O'Hare to Denver and twice daily from the northern Chicagoland airport to Phoenix.

          UNITED AIRLINES: Airline to trial free mandatory COVID-19 testing on flights to London Heathrow

          United Airlines has announced that they will trial free, mandatory COVID-19 testing on flights from New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport to London Heathrow between 16 November and 11 December. The rapid testing will not yet negate current entry requirements, and passengers will still be required to quarantine on arrival in the UK; however, the airline hopes that by proving they can fly aircraft that are 100% free of COVID-19, they can play their part in lobbying the respective governments to reduce restrictions.

          AIRINDIA: Airline to resume direct flights between India and Germany from 26 October 2020

          The airline has announced that it will operate flights between Germany and the India cities of Bengaluru and Delhi between 26 October 2020 and 28 March 2021 under the air transport travel bubble arrangements between the nations. Representatives from the airline have said Air India is will operate flights between Delhi and Frankfurt every Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday; while the Bengaluru-Frankfurt service will operate every Thursday and Sunday. In effect, Air India will be operating seven times a week between India and Frankfurt.

          WESTJET: Airline announces rapid COVID-19 testing trial for arrivals to Calgary from 2 November

          The airline have announced that starting from 2 November, both residents of Canada’s Alberta and eligible international travellers arriving on a non-stop flight to Calgary, will be able to take a rapid COVID-19 test to reduce their quarantine requirement to as little as two days with a negative result. The pilot is part of plans by the Canadian government which it hopes to roll out on a national level in the near future.

          EMIRATES: Airline to begin flights to Amman, Jordan from 4 November 2020

          The Dubai-based airline has announced that it will expand its current flight schedule utilising it's flagship Airbus A380 aircraft with the introduction of flights to Amman, Jordan from 4 November. Passengers can fly from Dubai to Amman three times a week on Wednesdays, Thursday and Fridays. Emirates flight EK 903 will depart Dubai at 14:05 and arrive in Amman at 15:30 local time. The return flight, EK 904 will depart Amman at 17:10 and arrive in Dubai at 22:00 local time.

          HAWAIIAN AIRLINES: Airline to return to full U.S. mainland schedule from December 2020

          The airline has announced that from December it will return to its full 13-city mainland U.S. network, included reinstating east coast services to Boston and New York (JFK). Hawaiian will also bring back non-stop flights between Kaua‘i’s Līhuʻe Airport and Los Angeles and Oakland, and between Maui’s Kahului Airport and San Diego and San Francisco, utilising its narrow-body Airbus A321neo aircraft.

          SINGAPORE AIRLINES: Updated flight schedules published for October, November and December 2020

          The airline, along with partner carrier SilkAir, has published its latest schedule update for flights in October, November and December 2020. Among the updates are reinstated flights to destinations including Brunei, Fukuoka, Kathmandu and Male. The airlines have said that following these resumptions, by the end of December flight capacity will have reached 15% of pre-COVID-19 levels.

          VIRGIN ATLANTIC: Airline to launch two new India to Manchester routes from December 2020

          The airline has announced that it will launch two new routes from Manchester to New Delhi and Mumbai in an attempt to target the visiting friends and relatives (VFR) market. Virgin will start flying three times per week from Manchester to Mumbai on 19 December with a twice-weekly route to Delhi due to follow on 5 January; the routes will likely fly Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft featuring economy, premium economy and upper class cabins.

          AUSTRALIA: Country welcomes first quarantine-free flights from New Zealand to Sydney

          The Safe Travel Zone between New Zealand and the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) is underway, with the arrival of Air New Zealand and Jetstar flights from Auckland to Sydney today, 16 October. Passengers travelling from New Zealand will be able to travel to the Australian states of NSW, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and the Northern Territory (NT) without the requirement for quarantine on arrival in Australia. Passengers will be required to complete a health declaration stating they have been in New Zealand only during the preceding 14 days, and health screenings will also take place on arrival in Sydney.

          AMERICAN AIRLINES: Airline begins new direct flights to Florida's Key West

          The U.S. airline has announced and already commenced, as part of its Autumn schedule, a new nonstop service to Florida's Key West from its operating hubs in Charlotte, North Carolina and Dallas Forth-Worth. The new flights, which started on 8 October, feature 76-seat regional jets from Charlotte and 128-seat Airbus 319s from Dallas.

          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline to introduce flight to San Francisco from 15 December 2020

          The airline has announced that it will launch a four-times weekly service between Qatar's capital of Doha and San Francisco from 15 December. It will operate an Airbus A350 that features 36 business-class seats and 236 seats in economy; it’s the fifth global destination Qatar Airways has added during the pandemic, joining Toronto, Brisbane, Accra (Ghana) and Cebu (Philippines).

          EMIRATES: Airline updates COVID-19 testing protocols for passengers travelling to or via Dubai

          The Dubai-based airline has announced amendments to their COVID-19 PCR testing protocols for passengers travelling to, via and from Dubai International Airport. Included within the amendments is the update that COVID-19 PCR testing is no longer required for all transiting passengers unless the passenger destination country requires it, OR for those transiting from a select group of countries.
