The country’s government has announced plans to re-open the British Virgin Islands to visitors from 1 December, with further information on entry requirements and protocols to be released soon. The islands are currently in phase two of a controlled re-entry plan.

The premier of the Australian state of Queensland has announced that Queensland's border bubble will be extended to include communities along the interstate border with New South Wales (NSW), and along the NSW eastern coast. The border bubble changes will come into effect at 01.00 (local time) on 1 October and allow approximately 152,000 people to arrive in Queensland without a border exemption. Residents of the extension areas will be able to apply for a border pass to allow them to freely travel around Queensland.

The country's government has said that it will resume international flights from 1 October; Zimbabwe is ready to receive visitors and, according to a government directive, international travellers must on arrival produce a certificate showing they tested negative for COVID-19 a maximum of 48 hours prior to departure. The government, which re-opened tourism facilities such as national parks in August, has also lifted a ban on inter-city travel in the country. Land borders, however, remain closed.

The government of Italy has announced that from today, 22 September, people travelling to the country from Paris and some other areas of France will face mandatory COVID-19 testing. Testing will be mandatory for those travelling from Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, Corsica, Hauts-de-France, Nouvelle-Aquitaine, Occitanie, Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Île-de-France - the region that includes Paris.

The country's government has officially re-opened its borders for international tourism effective from today, 21 September; airports have also reopened. Foreign tourists from all nations will be able to visit Colombia if they have a negative COVID-19 PCR test result, obtained a maximum of 96 hours prior to departure. For any arrival that fulfills this testing requirement, no mandatory quarantine is required. All passengers need to fill out the online migration form, 'Check-Mig', between 24 hours and one hour before the flight. All arrivals will undergo health screening, and must wear a mask during their inbound flight, at all times within the airport terminal, and on any transportation to their final destination.

The country’s government has today, 21 September, lifted all COVID-19 restrictions across New Zealand, with the exception of the city of Auckland. Some restrictions were also though gently lifted in Auckland, including the allowance of gatherings of up to 100 people.

The country's government has confirmed that South Africa will move into COVID-19 alert level one on 21 September, and international travel will resume from 1 October; international travel within Africa will be permitted, however travel outside the continent will depend on the assessed risk of each country. International business travel from countries deemed 'high-risk' may though be allowed with government approval. Effective from October 1, all travellers will be required to present a valid certificate of a negative COVID-19 test obtained a maximum of 72 hours before the date of travel. Travellers who fail to present proof of a negative test will be required to quarantine at their own cost.

The U.S. government has announced that its land borders with both Mexico and Canada will remain closed to non-essential travel for at least another month until 21 October. The land border restrictions, aimed at controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, were first announced in March and have thus far been renewed monthly.

The government of the state of Queensland has announced that it will lift border restrictions for arrivals from the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) from 01.00 (local time) on 25 September.

The country's government has announced that from 1 October, borders will be open to returning Mauritian nationals, residents and also foreign tourists travelling to Mauritius for long stays. Passengers will have to undergo a COVID-19 PCR test a maximum of five days prior to arrival, and will be subject to a 14-day quarantine on arrival at an establishment approved by the authorities. The country's government has announced that Zambia's borders are now open to foreign nationals; however, it should be noted that travellers arriving with a visitor visa or applying for a visitor visa on arrival for non-essential purposes will not be permitted entry at this time. Entry to Zambia through non-tourist visas or permits is subject to approval following a health screening at the port of entry, and arrivals will be required to provide a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained no more than 14 days prior to arrival. Arrivals are also subject to a mandatory 14-day quarantine, testing, and regular monitoring at their residence or preferred place of stay.

The government of Namibia has said that it will resume international travel from 18 September as it ends a six-month long state of emergency, which came to an end at midnight on 17 September. From 18 September, travelling in and out of areas including the capital of Windhoek, and the surrounding towns of Okahandja and Rehoboth, will also be permitted.

The government of Switzerland has moved South Africa onto its list of countries whose citizens do not need to quarantine for a mandatory 14 days upon arrival. Switzerland's list of countries from which arrivals are required to undergo mandatory quarantine is updated regularly based on a number of factors, including the number of active cases over the past seven days. Switzerland has declared South Africa - along with Ecuador, Faroe Islands, and Guatemala - free from this constraint.

South Africa will enter alert level one as of 00.01 (local time) on 21 September; there will be a gradual easing of restrictions placed on international travel for business and leisure purposes as of 1 October. Travellers will only be permitted to travel to and from Johannesburg's OR Tambo International Airport, Cape Town International Airport and King Shaka Airport, and a negative COVID-19 test result must be presented on arrival, obtained a maximum of 72 hours prior to departure. Should a COVID-19 test not be presented, passengers will be required to enter mandatory quarantine at their own cost.

From midnight (local time) on 15 September, residents of the state of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) are now able to visit South Australia without having to undertake a 14-day quarantine period. Residents of the ACT must complete an online pre-approval before entering the state, and must declare they have not been in the states of New South Wales (NSW) or Victoria in the 14 days before their arrival into South Australia (SA). They will only be able to fly into South Australia and will not be permitted to drive across the borders from NSW.

The government of the Republic of the Congo has said that it has re-opened to international visitors; travellers will be required to do a health screening and follow quarantine protocols, and all visitors must obtain a negative COVID-19 test result a maximum of seven days prior to arrival, submitting the test results within two days of departure. All arriving passengers may be requested to take another COVID-19 test. Upon departure, travellers may also be subject to screening, including temperature checks.

The government of Madagascar has announced that the popular tourism destination of the island of Nosy Be will resume international travel from 1 October. All arriving passengers must present a return air ticket and may not travel outside of the island; a negative COVID-19 (PCR and/or serology) test result is required for entry, health screening procedures are in place at airports and a 14-day mandatory quarantine is required. Complimentary COVID-19 testing is though reportedly to be provided at the airport on arrival.

The government of Israel is to impose a new national lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19, with tough restrictions coming into effect from 18 September. The country's second lockdown will last for at least three weeks.

Visa applications for travel to Germany from India are now being accepted at some locations; among them, the German consulate in Bangalore is now accepting applications of 'D' category visas, and the German visa application centres in both Chennai and Hyderabad are also accepting additional 'D' and limited 'C' visa applications. As of September 2020, these applications can only be processed through Indian government partner VFS.

Reports by some news outlets suggest that from as early as 14 September, the U.S. government is set to end some enhanced screening measures for international travellers, which include the requirement that they arrive at one of 15 designated U.S. airports. The U.S. administration in February imposed enhanced screening measures on arrivals who had been in China, the UK, Brazil, Iran and the Schengen region of Europe, and denied entry to most non-U.S. citizens who had been in those locations within the past 14 days.
