RUSSIA: Country due to announce the resumption of international flights to some countries

A newspaper in the country has reported that an announcement could be made this week in relation to the resumption of international flights to France, Hungary, Malta, Cyprus, Jordan, Egypt and China’s Shanghai. Russia grounded international commercial flights during the COVID-19 lockdown earlier this year and has so far only resumed flights to London, Turkey, Tanzania and Switzerland.

GERMANY: Country advises citizens against travel to the Belgian capital of Brussels

The government of Germany has issued a warning to its citizens against travel to the Belgian capital of Brussels due to high reported cases of COVID-19 there. The Belgian region of Antwerp, plus French Guyana, are also among destinations for which warnings have been issued, under the German government benchmark of them having reported more than 50 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 inhabitants over the past week.

ESTONIA: Country to require UK arrivals to self-quarantine from 24 August 2020

The government of Estonia has announced that from today, 24 August, it has added the UK to the list of countries from which arrivals are required to self-quarantine for 14 days. Those arriving from countries where the COVID-19 infection rate is 16 cases or fewer per 100,000 people for the previous 14 days, however, do not need to self-quarantine on entry.

FRANCE: Country likely to impose self-quarantine requirement on UK arrivals shortly

The government of France will in the coming days reportedly reciprocate the UK's decision to impose a 14-day quarantine on all arrivals from France, according to a government source. In addition, the UK said on 21 August that travellers from the United Kingdom to France are required to self-certify that they are not suffering COVID-19 symptoms or have been in contact with a confirmed case within 14 days preceding travel.

ITALY: Country bans citizens from travelling for tourism to Albania

HUNGARY: Country to tighten border crossing rules from 1 September 2020

The country's government has announced that it will tighten border crossing rules from 1 September to prevent the spread of COVID-19 as the number of new infections is rising in neighbouring countries. GERMANY: Country issues travel warning for parts of Croatia

The government of Germany has yesterday, 20 August, issued a warning to it's citizens against travel to parts of Croatia, due to both countries battling to contain a rising number of COVID-19 cases during the summer tourism season. The German foreign ministry advised against travel to the regions of Sibenik-Knin and Split Dalmatia, which are popular with tourists. Germany also urged people not to travel to the Valcea region of Romania, but removed a warning for the regions of Ialomita, Mehedinti and Timis. It also lifted a travel warning for Luxembourg.

JAPAN: Country to ease entry restrictions for resident foreign nationals from September 2020

Japanese public broadcaster NHK has reported that the country's government is planning to ease its COVID-19 entry restrictions on foreign nationals with resident visas starting next month. Re-entry will be permitted for visa holders, including permanent residents and exchange students, on condition that they undergo COVID-19 testing and quarantine for 14 days - the same policy that applies to Japanese citizens re-entering the country. UNITED STATES: Hawaii announces further delay to the resumption of tourism until 1 October 2020

The state government of Hawaii has announced that the introduction of its pre-travel testing program and re-opening of tourism will be once again delayed until at least 1 October, due to both a spike in COVID-19 cases and questions surrounding the availability of testing. The plan, first floated in July, would allow arrivals from outside the islands to bypass the state's 14-day mandatory quarantine if they test negative for COVID-19 within 72 hours of landing in Hawaii.

SLOVENIA: Country to impose quarantine on arrivals from Croatia from 21 August 2020

UNITED KINGDOM: Arrivals from three additional countries to be required to self-quarantine from 22 August 2020

The UK government has announced that from 04.00 (local time) on 22 August, both arrivals and returning passengers from Croatia, Austria and Trinidad and Tobago will be required to self-quarantine for 14 days due to the countries being removed from the UK's travel corridor exemption list. In addition, the UK's Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) has also advised British nationals against all but essential travel to these destinations, based on the risk currently presented due to their levels of COVID-19. Arrivals from Portugal, however, will no longer be required to self-quarantine.

NORWAY: Country to impose quarantine requirements on additional countries from 22 August 2020

UNITED STATES: Country to double weekly flights with China following bilateral agreement

The U.S. department of transportation has announced that it is reached an agreement with China meaning that each country will allow airlines to double the number of currently permitted flights between them to eight per week. Following the announcement, both United Airlines and Delta Air Lines have said that they'll increase their current flight schedules, from 4 September and 24 August onwards respectively.

AUSTRIA: Country expands its travel warnings for Spain to include Balearic Islands

The government of Austria announced on 18 August that the country is expanding its travel warning for the Spanish mainland to also include the Balearic Islands, which includes Mallorca and Ibiza, due to a rise in COVID-19 cases in the holiday destinations.
