UNITED KINGDOM: Spain to be added to Scotland's 'safe travel' list

Visitors to Scotland from the Spanish mainland and its islands, as well as returning Scottish residents, will no longer be required to self-isolate for 14 days on arrival from this week. A list of quarantine-exempt countries published by the Scottish government previously came into force on 10 July, and has since been reviewed. As a devolved administration, Scotland has chosen to act independently of fellow UK countries including England and Wales during the COVID-19 pandemic.

THAILAND: Country to extend emergency decree until the end of August 2020

The country's government has announced today, 22 July, that Thailand will extend a state of emergency until the end of August, maintaining the security measures put in place to contain its COVID-19 outbreak. The country will however begin allowing the entry of business executives for trade shows, migrant labourers, film makers and medical tourists. All foreign arrivals will be subject to a 14-day quarantine.

ZIMBABWE: Country declares nationwide curfew from 22 July 2020

The government of Zimbabwe has announced a dusk-to-dawn COVID-19 curfew in an attempt to curb the spread of the virus. From today, 22 June, security forces will enforce a curfew between 06:00 and 18:00 local time; all non-working people will be required to stay at home, except to buy groceries and seek medical attention. Business hours will be limited to 08:00 to 15:00, apart from those performing essential services.

DOMINICA: Country to permit international arrivals from 7 August 2020

The government of the Caribbean nation of Dominica have announced that the country will permit international arrivals from 7 August; tentative plans had previously been announced for a date later in August. IRELAND: Country releases travel 'green list' of quarantine-exempt countries

After some uncertainty over the date of its release, the government of Ireland have now announced their travel 'green list' of quarantine-exempt countries; arrivals into the country from Malta, Finland, Norway, Italy, Hungary, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus, Slovakia, Greece, Greenland, Gibraltar, Monaco, and San Marino will not have to restrict their movements or be subject to a 14-day quarantine. Notably, the United Kingdom has for now been excluded. The list will be reviewed on a fortnightly basis.

HONG KONG: Increased restrictions for 'high-risk' arrivals from 25 July 2020

From 25 July all travellers entering Hong Kong from high-risk destinations will be permitted to quarantine within a hotel, provided that they can show evidence of booked accommodation for at least 14 days from the date of arrival. They will also though be required to provide a letter, certified by a laboratory or health institution, verifying that they have undergone and received a negative test result for COVID-19 no more than 72 hours prior to their departure. Currently, the list of high-risk countries includes Bangladesh, India, Indonesia, Nepal, Pakistan, the Philippines and South Africa.

The Bahamas is set to close its borders to visitors from the U.S on 22 July, around three weeks after it previously opened them. The U.S. city of Chicago's mayor announced today that she will re-impose some COVID-19 measures from 24 July; this includes a ban on indoor service at establishments where alcohol is served, and a shutdown of personal services that require the removal of face coverings, such as shaves and facials. RUSSIA: Express COVID-19 testing trial begins at Moscow’s Sheremetyevo Airport

ITALY: Country restricts entry for arrivals from Serbia, Kosovo and Montenegro

IRAQ: Country to re-open airports from 23 July 2020

Iraq's government announced on 16 July that the country will re-open its airports for scheduled international traffic on 23 July, after suspending regular commercial flights in March because of the COVID-19 outbreak. The country will also lift a nationwide night-time curfew after the Muslim holiday of Eid Al-Adha, and re-open restaurants and malls as long as they implement certain measures.
