The airline's regional British subsidiary, BA CityFlyer, has announced the launch of two new routes from London City Airport to Jersey and Gibraltar from 25 June; two flights per week will operate on Mondays and Fridays - offering important air links for business travellers, holiday makers and those visiting friends and relatives as COVID-19 regulations ease, as well as for cargo.

The Dubai-based airline has announced that, in line with Bangladesh government directives, passenger flights to and from Bangladesh are to be suspended with effect from 14 April 2021 until 20 April 2021; customers travelling to and from Dhaka will not be accepted for travel. The last flight Emirates will operate before the temporary suspension of services is EK585 that is scheduled to depart from Dhaka at 01.40 (local time) on 14 April.

The U.S. airline has announced that it is the latest carrier offering a COVID-19 'preclearance' service intended to expedite arrival procedures in Hawaii, where the state screens every arriving passenger. Under Hawaii's Safe Travels program, all incoming travelers over the age of five must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test result from a state-approved provider or be subject to a 10-day self quarantine period. Now, Southwest Airlines is offering preclearance to passengers departing to Honolulu and to Kahului, on Maui, from its five California gateway cities: Oakland, San Jose, Sacramento, San Diego and Long Beach.

The Dubai-based airline has further extended its suspension of inbound passenger flights from South Africa to 22 April; the UAE flag-carrier initially hoped to lift the ban on 8 April and later pushed back its return date to 15 April. The U.S. airline has announced nine additional seasonal U.S. routes to be launched this summer, as it prepares for what it anticipates to be a recovery in leisure travel. Low-cost airline easyJet has announced the upcoming introduction of two new domestic flight routes from Bournemouth to Belfast and Edinburgh, which are on sale now. The flights to and from the popular seaside town of Bournemouth will operate up to twice per week to Belfast from 26 May, and to Edinburgh from 27 May.

A new Norway-based airline has announced that it will launch from December 2021 and attempt to fill the low-cost transatlantic void left by Norwegian Air, who suspended their transatlantic services due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Norse Atlantic Airways plans to fly Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft between European destinations such as London, Paris and Oslo and U.S. destinations such as New York, Los Angeles and Miami; tickets are due to go on sale in the Autumn.

Abu Dhabi Airports has launched rapid, free COVID-19 PCR testing for all arrivals, alongside partners Pure Health and Tamouh Healthcare. Passengers will not be allowed to leave the airport until the test has been completed – with authorities hoping to provide results in around 90 mins. A new laboratory has the capacity to test more than 20,000 travellers and staff per day.

The national airline of Latvia has announced that it will resume flights from Riga to the Ukrainian city of Kyiv on 17 March for those passengers that are due to travel for essential reasons; airBaltic will also resume further flights outside of the European Union from 28 March.

The Kazakh airline has announced that it will resume direct flights between Almaty and Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia, on 16 March. Services will be operating three times per week on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flight-time between Almaty and Tbilisi is four hours and 15 minutes, and three hours and 40 mins on return from Tbilisi to Almaty.

The low-cost airline has announced the launch of a COVID-19 travel 'wallet', which is available for customers within the Ryanair mobile app; passengers can now upload their negative COVID-19 PCR tests, their COVID-19 vaccination certificates and other documents that may be required for EU travel this summer.

The low-cost airline has announced that it will begin services on three new flight routes, as well as additional services on a further five routes, between the UK and Greece from 1 July. Ryanair will offer two flights per week from Preveza to London Stansted, while there will also be two trips a week from London Stansted to Zakynthos and Santorini. The airline has announced that from 15 March it will begin testing the International Air Transport Association's 'Travel Pass' mobile health verification app on flights from Singapore to London; from this date, passengers on that route using Apple iOS-enabled phones will be able to download the app and create a digital identification with their photo and passport information. They also can submit flight information and book a COVID-19 test at one of seven participating clinics in Singapore, after which their test results can be viewed directly in the app. Check-in staff at Singapore's Changi airport can then verify their status via the app, which will speed up the check-in process.

The airline has announced that it has extended its COVID-19 global wellness insurance cover until 1 October 2021; the cover is included with every Etihad ticket, providing protection for the first 31 days of a passenger’s trip.
