CYPRUS: Country revises its list of ‘safe’ countries from 6 August 2020

The country's government has announced three amendments from 6 August to the list of countries from which Cyprus accepts visitors. Greece will move from category A to B, meaning a COVID-19 test certificate must now be obtained within 72 hours of departure. Thailand will move from category B to A, meaning arrivals to Cyprus are now not required to self-isolate or be tested. Finally, Morocco will move from category B to C, meaning most passengers are not permitted to enter, and those who are eligible must be tested and self-isolate. In addition, all passengers must apply for a 'CyprusFlightPass' within 24 hours of their departure, and present this at passport control when they arrive in the country.

BRITISH AIRWAYS: Airline drops daily flight from London City Airport to New York JFK

British Airways have confirmed that they have stopped their historic BA1/BA2 service from London City Airport to New York JFK - a 32-seat all business class service which made a re-fuelling stop in Shannon, Ireland where passengers could also clear US customs prior to arrival in New York. The service had operated since 2009 using flight numbers previously owned by Concorde.

BRITISH AIRWAYS: Airline resumes flights to a number of additional destinations from August 2020

British Airways has resumed flying to a number of popular holiday destinations, among a number of other route resumptions announced as part of an update to their August-September schedule. Flights to Bari, Bastia, Bodrum, Bordeaux, Catania, Figari, Kefalonia, Malta, Paphos and Pula have resumed; while in long-haul, Antigua, Nairobi and Islamabad are now operating. Also notable is that from September, the service from London Heathrow to New York JFK will double in frequency and become daily.

EMIRATES: Airline to further expand network in August 2020

The Dubai-based airline has announced that it will resume flights to Nairobi (from 2 August), Baghdad and Basra (from 10 August), expanding its growing network. The move will take the airline’s passenger network to 67 destinations in August, including seven points in Africa and five points in the Middle East. Flights between Nairobi-Dubai and Basra-Dubai will operate three times a week while flights between Baghdad and Dubai will operate four times a week.

RWANDA: Passengers to require movement clearance for flights during curfew hours

The government of Rwanda have announced that from 3 August, a movement clearance pass will be required by passengers who need to travel to or from Kigali International Airport between the hours of 21.00 and 05.00 (local time), when a public curfew is otherwise in place. Applicants are required to request the clearance pass either via an online government platform or via a quick code (*127#) and provide their name, telephone number, car license plate number, time of movement and flight number.

SEYCHELLES: International arrivals to require recent COVID-19 test result from 1 August 2020

The government of the Seychelles has announced that all passengers arriving from 1 August, when the airport re-opens for scheduled passenger flights – must have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken a maximum of 72 hours before boarding their flight; visitors must also be from a list low or medium-risk countries, and an application form must be submitted via a government portal. A list of countries from which passengers are permitted entry is available on the portal of the Seychelles department of health.

DELTA AIR LINES: Airline introduces new passenger health declaration from 30 July 2020

The U.S. airline have, from 30 July, introduced a new health declaration for passengers during the check-in process; the acknowledgment requires passengers to check boxes indicating that they have not been diagnosed with or exposed to COVID-19 within the past two weeks, and have not experienced any of the primary symptoms. Passengers who cannot confirm this will be unable to complete check-in, and will be prompted to cancel or change their reservation with fees waived.

AUSTRIAN AIRLINES: Airline to resume flights to an additional 15 destinations by 1 August 2020

The airline has announced the resumption of flights to an additional 15 destinations between 31 July and 1 August. Flights to Bucharest, Chicago, Pristina and Sarajevo are to be offered from today, 31 July. From tomorrow, 1 August, flights will resume to Belgrade, Cairo, Kiev, London, Podgorica, Sibiu, Skopje, Sofia, Stockholm, Tirana and Varna.

KENYA: International arrivals to require recent COVID-19 test result from 1 August 2020

The government of Kenya has announced that from 1 August 1, international passengers must have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken a maximum of 96 hours before boarding their flight; arriving passengers will be also exempt from a 14-day quarantine requirement if they are not displaying symptoms. Among those permitted to enter the country from 1 August when international flights resume are citizens of China, Uganda, Rwanda, South Korea, Zimbabwe, Morocco, Ethiopia, Switzerland, Namibia, Japan and Canada.

DOMINICAN REPUBLIC: International arrivals to require recent COVID-19 test result from 30 July 2020

The government of the the Dominican Republic have mandated that all passengers arriving from 30 July must have proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken a maximum of five days before boarding their flight; those who don't have proof of an eligible result will be tested on arrival at the airport. Individuals who test positive will be required to quarantine as instructed by authorities, and travellers must fill out a health declaration.

Virgin Atlantic have announced further route resumptions in August, after successfully re-starting flights to destinations including Hong Kong, New York JFK and Los Angeles in the second half of July. DELTA AIR LINES: Airline partners with makers of Lysol to develop updated safety solutions

Delta Air Lines announced on 27 July that it is teaming up with Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC, the makers of Lysol, to research and develop new disinfecting solutions for high-traffic areas in airports and onboard. Under the new partnership, Delta will also use and distribute Environmental Protection Agency-approved Lysol disinfectant spray and wipes.

RWANDAIR: Rwanda's national airline to resume operations in August 2020

Rwanda's flag-carrying airline RwandAir will resume commercial passenger services from 1 August; flights will restart with select African routes where travel restrictions have been eased and borders have re-opened. Flights to the long-haul destination of Dubai will also recommence with a thrice-weekly service, and more destinations will gradually be added to the network as countries continue to lift restrictions.

The Dubai-based airline has released further information following the announcement that, from 1 August, all passengers flying to or via Dubai International Airport must hold a valid, negative COVID-19 PCR test result taken less than 96 hours prior to departure in order to be accepted for their flight at check-in. If a UAE-endorsed testing facility is available in the passenger's country of origin, they must obtain the test result from that facility accordingly; if an approved facility is not listed, any registered practitioner able to provide PCR testing will be accepted.

If an airline-endorsed 'Pure Health' testing facility is available in the passenger's country of origin, they must obtain the test result from that facility accordingly; a database of all eligible facilities, searchable by destination, is available on the airline website.
