The airline's administrator, Deloitte, today entered into a sale agreement with U.S global investment firm Bain Capital. The firm has vowed to keep thousands of jobs, honour all employee entitlements and carry forward all travel credits and Velocity frequent flyer booked flights.

Delta Air Lines have today resumed flights between Seattle and Shanghai, making it the first U.S. airline to restart operations between the U.S. and mainland China. From July and beyond it will operate once-weekly flights from Seattle and Detroit to mainland China, included connecting services via Seoul, South Korea.

From today, 25 June, transit services at Taipei's Taoyuan International Airport have started to resume in phases; during the first phase, transfers are only permitted between airlines in the Evergreen Group, which includes national airline EVA Air, and must have a same-day connection time of less than eight hours. Initially, transfer to and from mainland China is also not permitted.

In an update to previous announcements about the resumption of flight routes via a special Abu Dhabi transit service, Etihad has confirmed that they will connect passengers to a total of 13 European destinations from early July. Destination cities include Amsterdam, Athens, Barcelona, Brussels, Dublin, Frankfurt, Geneva, Istanbul, London, Madrid, Milan, Paris and Zurich. They hope to increase their network even further from 16 July and are working closely alongside the UAE authorities to do so.

From today, 24 June, further commercial passenger flights are resuming from Afghanistan. Turkish Airlines will now operate two flights per week from Kabul until 1 July, from which time there will be four per week. Dubai-based Emirates will resume flights from Kabul from tomorrow, 25 June, and operate three times per week initially.

The Dubai-based airline is set to resume flights to London Heathrow and Paris using their highly popular, flagship Airbus A380 from 15 July - hailed as the world's largest and most spacious passenger aircraft. The move will mark the first time that the airline has returned the aircraft to scheduled services since the pandemic forced the grounding of their passenger fleet in March.

The Dubai-based airline will continue to operate a number of repatriation flights scheduled from 24-30 June, which are set to continue assisting Pakistani nationals to return home from the UAE. This is despite the announcement last night that regular passenger services from Pakistan's Islamabad, Karachi and Lahore airports have been temporarily suspended, following the news that a number of passengers on a previous flight tested positive for COVID-19.

Turkey's national airline is continuing to resume flights to an increasing number of North American destinations, after our previous bulletin on services resuming to Chicago, Washington and Miami this past weekend. Flights to Los Angeles will start tomorrow, 25 June; New York and Toronto will follow on 1 July; San Francisco, Montreal and Houston are currently set to follow later in July.

SkyTeam, an international alliance of member airlines, has launched a pledge to enhance safety measures across all of its member airlines at every step of the customer journey. Named ‘SkyCare&Protect’, the pledge will allow passengers to make educated decisions about their travel plans.

The airline has published an updated schedule of flights operating between 1 July and 1 August; during this period, Air China will operate a total of 24 international routes per week, including 19 routes through Beijing, three Shanghai routes, and two Chengdu routes.

The airline yesterday published their latest update on flight schedules for June and July 2020. Reinstated scheduled services include flights to Adelaide, Amsterdam, Auckland, Barcelona, Brisbane, Cebu, Christchurch, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Medan, Melbourne and Osaka.

The airline is set to resume flights from London-Delhi and London-Mumbai from 2 September. The resumption of these routes into India is part of yesterday's announcement by Virgin Atlantic that it will resume flights to an additional 17 destinations from August.

The airline published an updated press release yesterday detailing both the resumption of flight routes and an increase in frequency on existing routes over the past week; it has now increased to more than 270 weekly flights to 45 destinations, most recently resuming services to Budapest, Dar es Salaam, Dhaka, Istanbul and New York.

They believe the application of these responsible measures will ensure airport lounges continue to provide assurance of safety, as well as that unique and personal experience.

The airline announced on 21 June that it is set to resume international flights across its global network in June and July 2020, and has published an updated timetable.

The airline has today announced that they are set to resume flights to an additional 17 destinations across their global network from August; this follows the previous news of passenger flights being set to resume from 20 July. Flights to the additional destinations will resume from 1 August through to early October, and include cities across the Unites States, India, South Africa and the Caribbean.

The protocol is informed by health advice from the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, as well as guidance from international aviation authorities.

The Netherlands-based airline KLM, a subsidiary of Air France-KLM, is planning to increase the number of passenger flights that it will operate in July and August, as travel restrictions related to COVID-19 begin to ease. In a statement, the airline said it would operate 6,900 passenger flights in July and 13,100 in August - that compares with around 22,000 flights per month in the summer months of 2019.

The airline resumed flights to the U.S. on the evening of 19 June, after a suspension of more than two months; two planes bound for Washington D.C. and Chicago took off from Istanbul at around 18.00 GMT. Back in the airline's hub, Turkey has this month reopened restaurants and cafes, allowed intercity flights and car travel, and lifted weekend stay-home orders.

The airline has yesterday become the first domestic airline in India to launch a safe door to door baggage service for its passengers, branded AirAsia FlyPorter. In a continuation of the changes that COVID-19 is having upon processes within the airport experience, such as contactless check-in, the service goes a step further by introducing a safe and hassle-free way to transport luggage from the journey's start to finish.
