AUSTRIAN AIRLINES: Airline set to resume flights from 15 June 2020

The airline has announced today that it plans to resume flights from 15 June. Flights will resume to European destinations including London, Paris and Brussels. From 22 June more destinations will be added, bringing the total to 37.

VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: New flights added under agreement with federal government

The airline has announced the addition of new flights and increased frequencies, in conjunction with a federal government agreement to connect essential travellers with critical freight services in Australia. The changes will see the schedule increase from 64 to 76 return services per week, will bring Adelaide and Perth closer together with a new three-times weekly return service. Passengers travelling between Brisbane and Melbourne, Brisbane-Mackay and Brisbane-Cairns will also be given more flexibility to travel with increased frequencies.

ALITALIA: Services from Rome to London and New York to resume from 2 June 2020

The airline has announced plans to ramp up services next month, including the resumption of its non-stop Rome-New York routes from 2 June. Alitalia is currently operating about 12% of flights compared with this time last year, but says it will resume direct services from Rome to Madrid and Barcelona in June, as well as flights between Milan and southern Italy. In total the airline will operate 30 routes to 25 airports (15 in Italy and ten elsewhere), offering around 36 per cent more flights than in May.

QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline to introduce temporary safety measures including mandatory PPE for passengers

Qatar Airways has further enhanced its onboard safety measures for passengers and cabin crew. The airline is implementing several changes, including the introduction of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) suits for cabin crew while onboard, as well as a modified service that reduces interactions between the passengers and the crew inflight.

FINNAIR: Airline plans to resume flights to 40 destinations from 1 July 2020

The airline has today published a new traffic plan, in a bid to 'ramp up' its list of destinations from 1 July. As well as regular services across Europe, passengers will be able to access 11 weekly services to Japan plus others to Chinese cities. From August, they plan to resume services to New York, the airline's key US destination.

QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline to resume flights to Brisbane from 20 May 2020

Qatar Airways has announced plans to resume scheduled service to Brisbane from 20 May. The carrier will offer three flights per week to Queensland’s capital operated with an A350-1000 aircraft configured with 46 seats in business class and 281 seats in economy.

RYANAIR: Airline to restore 40% of scheduled flights from 1 July 2020

Ryanair today announced plans to return to 40% of normal flight schedules from 1 July. The airline will operate a daily flight schedule of almost 1,000 flights, restoring 90% of its pre-COVID-19 route network.

Virgin Australia has announced it will resume flying a minimal domestic schedule from 17 April following a request by the federal government. The schedule will operate for a period of eight weeks, until 7 June, and flights will gradually go on sale from today through the airline website.
