          ETIHAD: Airline to resume further transit services from 10 June 2020

          Etihad Airways announced today that it will resume carrying transit passengers via its Abu Dhabi hub from 20 destination cities in Europe, Asia and Australia from 10 June; this follows a lifting of a previous suspension on those flights by the UAE government.

          EMIRATES: Flights to an additional 16 destinations due to resume from 15 June 2020

          Emirates has announced today that from 15 June, flights and transit services will be resumed between Dubai International Airport and a further 16 cities. Flights will shortly be available to Bahrain, Manchester, Zurich, Vienna, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, Dublin, New York JFK, Seoul, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Jakarta, Taipei, Hong Kong, Perth and Brisbane.

          NEW ZEALAND: Country could move to alert level one by 8 June 2020

          New Zealand's prime minister has said today that by next week the country could move to alert level one, which means all social distancing measures and curbs on mass gatherings will be lifted. Borders will though would remain closed to international arrivals at this time. A decision is due to be made by 8 June.

          SINGAPORE AIRLINES: Flights to 12 cities will be reinstated in June and July 2020

          Singapore Airlines and regional wing SilkAir will reinstate certain flights in June and July, subject to regulatory approvals. Reinstated scheduled services include flights to Adelaide, Amsterdam, Auckland, Barcelona, Brisbane, Cebu, Christchurch, Copenhagen, Hong Kong, Medan, Melbourne and Osaka.

          REGIONAL EXPRESS AIRLINES (REX): Passenger PPE requirements released

          Rex has announced that from 1 June 2020, all passengers flying across their network will be required to wear a face mask. This will help provide an extra layer of protection against the spread of COVID-19 as well as for the safety and wellbeing of all passengers and staff.

          VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: New flights added under agreement with federal government

          The airline has announced the addition of new flights and increased frequencies, in conjunction with a federal government agreement to connect essential travellers with critical freight services in Australia. The changes will see the schedule increase from 64 to 76 return services per week, will bring Adelaide and Perth closer together with a new three-times weekly return service. Passengers travelling between Brisbane and Melbourne, Brisbane-Mackay and Brisbane-Cairns will also be given more flexibility to travel with increased frequencies.

          QATAR AIRWAYS: Airline to resume flights to Brisbane from 20 May 2020

          Qatar Airways has announced plans to resume scheduled service to Brisbane from 20 May. The carrier will offer three flights per week to Queensland’s capital operated with an A350-1000 aircraft configured with 46 seats in business class and 281 seats in economy.

          QANTAS & JETSTAR: Domestic Australian and Trans-Tasman flights extended

          The airlines will now extend existing domestic and Trans-Tasman flight cancellations beyond the end of May through to the end of June 2020. International flight cancellations will be extended through to the end of July 2020.

          VIRGIN AUSTRALIA: Airline to resume flying minimal domestic schedule

          Virgin Australia has announced it will resume flying a minimal domestic schedule from 17 April following a request by the federal government. The schedule will operate for a period of eight weeks, until 7 June, and flights will gradually go on sale from today through the airline website.

          AUSTRALIA: Queensland border controls tightened from 10 April 2020

          The Australian state is set to introduce even stricter border controls from 10 April, requiring everyone including state residents to apply for a pass before they can enter. Anyone who has travelled through a COVID-19 hotspot will also be required to go into 14 days quarantine.

          AUSTRALIA: Queensland state borders now closed to interstate FIFO workers

          As of 11.59pm on Saturday, Queensland borders are closed to interstate FIFO workers. The two exemptions are critical roles, such as those responsible for worker health and safety, as well as FIFO or DIDO workers travelling from within Queensland.
