Kuwait and Qatar both announced today that they will impose either large fines or imprisonment on anyone failing to wear a face mask in order to combat COVID-19. Kuwait’s health ministry said anyone caught could face up to three months in prison, while Qatar state TV reported the maximum penalty there would be three years; fines are to range anywhere from 16,000-55,000 US dollars.

Qatar Airways has announced plans to resume scheduled service to Brisbane from 20 May. The carrier will offer three flights per week to Queensland’s capital operated with an A350-1000 aircraft configured with 46 seats in business class and 281 seats in economy.

Ryanair today announced plans to return to 40% of normal flight schedules from 1 July. The airline will operate a daily flight schedule of almost 1,000 flights, restoring 90% of its pre-COVID-19 route network.

The airline is resuming flights between Melbourne and London via its Abu Dhabi hub from 15 May.

The airlines will now extend existing domestic and Trans-Tasman flight cancellations beyond the end of May through to the end of June 2020. International flight cancellations will be extended through to the end of July 2020.

The airline has responded to the Australian federal government's request to resume flying a minimal domestic schedule from today. The airline's additional flights will be fully operational by 20 April.
