AUSTRIA: Austria reopens to Americans

Austria has lifted its travel restrictions and reopened its borders to US visitors. Since Thursday 24 June, American citizens and residents have been allowed to enter Austria without the need to quarantine, provided they meet the requirements of Austria’s COVID-19 travel protocols. Travellers must meet any of the following three criteria to enter Austria: Proof of vaccination (vaccination certificate), proof of recovery from COVID-19 (from a doctor or public authority in the past six months), and a negative COVID-19 test result (either a PCR or rapid antigen test taken no more than 48 hours before arrival).

PORTUGAL: Country's government re-opens borders to U.S. leisure passengers

The government of Portugal has announced in a press release that effective immediately, its borders are open to all U.S. passengers who can present proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained within 72 hours prior to departure, or a negative antigen test result obtained within 24 hours of departure.

FINNAIR: Airline introduces new overhaul of ticketing structure

The airline has announced that has from today, 15 June, introduced a completely new 'Business Light' ticket category, as well as renewing other ticket types. Passengers can choose a ticket from three types – 'Light', 'Classic' and 'Flex' – that are available for both business and economy class for all short-haul and most intercontinental journeys. When booking a ticket, passengers select the travel class experience they prefer and the level of flexibility for making reservation changes – along with some additional services included in the ticket.

EUROWINGS: Low-cost German airline to establish new base in Prague

The German low-cost airline, a subsidiary of the Lufthansa Group, has announced that it is expanding its European network with the opening of a new base in Prague. Initially stationing two Airbus A320 aircraft in the Czech capital from October - by the summer of 2022, three aircraft will take off for Eurowings with Prague becoming the tenth Eurowings base in Europe. This means that for the first time, the Lufthansa Group subsidiary will then be able to offer non-stop connections from Prague to business and holiday destinations throughout Europe.

STOBART AIR: Regional short-haul airline ceases trading in Ireland

Regional short-haul airline Stobart Air, which operated a number of flight services on behalf of Aer Lingus, has ceased trading and is in the process of appointing a liquidator. The Dublin-based airline connected a range of UK airports with points in Ireland across 12 routes; all have now been cancelled. Aer Lingus is now communicating with customers and trade partners to advise them of their options for refund or re-booking.

ST BARTS: Island set to re-open to COVID-19 vaccinated visitors from 9 June 2021

The government of France has authorised the island of St. Barts to re-open its borders to fully COVID-19 vaccinated U.S. passengers from 9 June, the same day that France eases border restrictions. Visitors to St. Barts must provide proof of full vaccination, plus proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result obtained within three days of arrival, or an antigen test result obtained within 48 hours. Visitors under 18 do not need proof of vaccination, and those below the age of five are not subject to testing.

SPAIN: Country re-opens borders to COVID-19 vaccinated international passengers

The country's government started its summer tourism season on 7 June, as it re-opened its borders to COVID-19 vaccinated visitors from most countries, as well as European visitors who can prove that they are not currently infected. Visitors need proof they were fully vaccinated at least 14 days before the trip, or that they overcame a COVID-19 infection in the past six months.

DENMARK: Country re-opens to COVID-19 vaccinated passengers from 4 June 2021

The country's government has officially re-opened its borders to fully COVID-19 vaccinated American and British tourists from 4 June, according to a statement from Denmark's tourism authority. To be recognised a visitor must have received the final dose of an approved vaccine at least 14 days before arrival; this includes Moderna, Vaxzevria (also known as Astra Zeneca), Vaccine Janssen, Comirnaty, Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer. Fully vaccinated travelers will no longer be required to provide a negative COVID-19 test result or isolate upon arrival.

BRITISH AIRWAYS: Airline to trial IATA Travel Pass on flights from London Heathrow Airport

The airline has confirmed that it will begin trialling the IATA Travel Pass on flights from London Heathrow to Geneva and Zurich in Switzerland in the coming week; the app can be downloaded onto a mobile device directly from the app store. Once downloaded, customers will create a secure account and will be presented with the entry requirements for their destination. British Airways’ customers can then book a COVID-19 test with an approved provider and the results will be automatically uploaded into the app by the lab.

EMIRATES: Airline to increase Italy flight connections from 1 July 2021

The Dubai-based airline has said that it will resume flights to Venice from 1 July, initially offering three weekly services on the route. Emirates will also increase services to Milan from eight to ten weekly flights in July. This will comprise of a daily service on the Dubai-Milan-New York JFK route, and a three-weekly return flights between Dubai and Milan. Together with five weekly flights to Rome and three weekly flights to Bologna, this will take the total services to Italy to 21 weekly flights to four cities in July.

OMAN AIR: Airline to launch flights to Georgia's Tbilisi from 16 June 2021

The middle-eastern airline has announced the upcoming launch of a seasonal service between Muscat and Tbilisi, Georgia; Oman Air will offer two weekly direct flights, on Wednesdays and Sundays, operated with a Boeing 737 aircraft. UNITED KINGDOM: London Heathrow Airport opens dedicated 'red list' arrivals terminal

The airport has announced the re-opening Terminal 3 as a dedicated facility for arrivals into the UK from 'red list' countries; monitored hotel quarantine for arrivals from the most at-risk for COVID-19 destinations has been required for nearly four months, however there had been concerns of passengers mixing in queues during immigration. There are 43 countries on the red list, but direct flights are permitted from only a few of them, including India. Only British and Irish nationals or UK residents are allowed to travel from countries on the list, but must pay for quarantine in a hotel for ten nights after their arrival in the UK.

CROATIA: Country's government announces re-opening of borders to international tourists

The government of Croatia has announced the re-opening of its borders to international tourism, having reportedly relaxed the majority of its previous COVID-19 restrictions for visitors who are fully vaccinated against the virus, have proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, or who have recently recovered from an infection. However, strict health measures will be enforced for visitors, including on beaches and in bars, such as social distancing requirements.
