AUSTRALIA: COVID-19 travel restrictions imposed in state of South Australia

The government of the state of South Australia has re-introduced travel restrictions after a new COVID-19 cluster was discovered in the north Adelaide area; among them, the state's premier has said that inbound international flights to Adelaide have been halted until the end of the week. Also announced were a other restrictions across the state including the closure of gyms and sports events, funerals being limited to 50 people, and church services capped at 100. Pubs, clubs and restaurants are limited to 100 people with no stand-up drinking allowed.

QANTAS: Airline to resume flights between Australian states of Victoria and Tasmania

The airline has announced that it will resume flights on three domestic Australian routes from 27 November, with 14 weekly return services between Melbourne and Launceston, 13 between Melbourne and Hobart and 12 between Melbourne and Devonport. With the increase in flying, Qantas will also re-open its Club Lounge in Hobart and regional lounges in Devonport and Launceston from 2 December.

PRINCESS CRUISES: Cruise line confirms cancellation of Australasian sailings until May 2021

The cruise operator has announced the cancellation of its sailings in Australia and New Zealand until 31 May 2021, effectively eliminating its summer season program. Princess had previously canceled all of its cruises worldwide through to 15 December except for its Australia program, which was due to resume by 31 October. AUSTRALIA: State of Western Australia to open borders to "very low risk" states and territories

The government of the state of Western Australia (WA) has announced that from 14 November it will reduce its hard border arrangement with other Australian states and territories by introducing a controlled interstate border; this will allow travellers from states and territories deemed to be "very low risk" to travel into WA. AUSTRALIA: State of Tasmania re-opens borders to 'low risk' states and territories

The government of Tasmania has announced that from today, 26 October, it has re-opened its borders to arrivals from 'low risk' Australian states and territories, plus arrivals from New Zealand. Tasmania will allow residents of South Australia, Queensland, Western Australia, the Northern Territory, Australia Capital Territory and New Zealand to visit without the requirement to quarantine on arrival. Travellers will need to register their details using the 'Tas e-Travel' online registration system; once this is complete, they will receive a unique QR code to present to authorities upon arrival.

AMAWATERWAYS: Cruise operator suspends all remaining 2020 river sailings in three continents

The cruise operator has announced that it has cancelled the rest of its scheduled 2020 river cruises in Europe, Asia and Africa; this suspension does not though apply to the chartered river cruises being operated on the Rhine in partnership with a German tour operator. AUSTRALIA: City of Melbourne eases COVID-19 restrictions following decline in case numbers

The government of the Australian state of Victoria has from yesterday evening, 18 October, eased COVID-19 lockdown restrictions in the city of Melbourne as cases of the virus continue to decline. Among the changes, Melbourne residents will no longer face limits on the time they can spend away from their homes for education or recreation. Previous restrictions allowing residents to travel only 5 kilometers (3 miles) from home have also increased to 25 kilometers (15 miles). Regulations are due to be lifted even further by 2 November with the partial re-opening of shops, bars and restaurants.

AUSTRALIA: Country welcomes first quarantine-free flights from New Zealand to Sydney

The Safe Travel Zone between New Zealand and the Australian state of New South Wales (NSW) is underway, with the arrival of Air New Zealand and Jetstar flights from Auckland to Sydney today, 16 October. Passengers travelling from New Zealand will be able to travel to the Australian states of NSW, Australian Capital Territory (ACT), and the Northern Territory (NT) without the requirement for quarantine on arrival in Australia. Passengers will be required to complete a health declaration stating they have been in New Zealand only during the preceding 14 days, and health screenings will also take place on arrival in Sydney.

SEYCHELLES: Country's government updates list of countries from which entry is permitted

South Africans and citizens of nine other African countries will be able to visit Seychelles as tourists from today, 19 October, according to the latest official Seychelles Travel tourism travel advisory published on 16 October. The list of category one countries has been updated to include Botswana, Burundi, Cote d’Ivoire, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Rwanda, South Africa, and Zimbabwe. Category one permitted countries are considered low and medium risk.

NEW ZEALAND: Country introduces 'Isolation Allocation System' requirement for all arrivals to New Zealand

The country's government has announced that from 08.00 (local time) on 5 October 2020, the new 'Managed Isolation Allocation System' will come in to force for all arrivals to New Zealand. The system is an online portal where passengers must obtain a voucher prior to travel that confirms their place in a managed isolation facility. There will be an initial one-month grace period before doing so becomes a legal requirement for all arrivals from from 00.01 (local time) on 3 November 2020.

The Australian state of Queensland (QLD) will re-open its border to all arrivals from New South Wales (NSW) on 1 November, provided NSW goes 28 days without any 'mystery' COVID-19 cases, according to the new roadmap released by the QLD Government. Visitors and returning travellers from NSW can enter QLD with a valid Queensland Border Declaration Pass without having to complete mandatory quarantine, provided community transmission is deemed as being under control.
