Tasmanian Premier Peter Gutwein has announced that from 4.00pm on Tuesday, 20 July 2021, all of SA will be declared as high-risk. Anyone intending to travel to Tasmania after 4.00pm on Tuesday, 20 July 2021 who has been in SA on or since 8 July 2021, will not be able to enter Tasmania unless approved as an essential traveller. Quarantine and other requirements are in place for essential travellers.

AUSTRALIA: SA to go into lockdown

South Australia will go into lockdown for seven days, beginning at 6.00pm on Tuesday, 20 July 2021. There will be just five reasons to leave your home: Care and compassion reasons, such as caring for a loved one, essential work, purchase of essential goods, such as a food, medical reasons, including vaccination and testing and exercise, but it must be limited to people from the same household. SA schools will also close from Wednesday, 21 July 2021.

AUSTRALIA: NT declares a COVID hotspot for Mildura Rural City

The NT has declared a COVID hotspot for Mildura Rural City, effective from 4.00pm on Monday, 19 July 2021. The declaration by the Chief Health Officer means anyone arriving in the NT from the area must undertake supervised quarantine. Hotspots have previously been declared for Greater Melbourne, Greater Geelong, the Moorabool Shire and the Bass Coast Shire.

AUSTRALIA: SA imposes stricter border on Mildura, Wentworth and Broken Hill

SA has limited the movements of cross-border community members after the confirmation of a case of COVID-19 in Mildura, in north-west Victoria. From midnight on Monday, 19 July 2021, the Victorian cross-border bubble has been reduced from 70 kilometres to 40km, with residents only allowed into SA for work, study, care, essential shopping or getting a COVID-19 vaccine. They must get regularly tested for COVID-19 and wear face masks in public. Anyone in SA who has been in Mildura since July 11 has been ordered into 14 days' quarantine.

Anyone intending to travel to Tasmania after 12:01am Sunday, 18 July 2021 who has been in NSW, will not be able to enter Tasmania unless approved as an essential traveller. Quarantine and other requirements are in place for essential travellers. Tasmanian residents, who have a suitable premises to undertake 14 days quarantine, can apply to enter Tasmania as an essential traveller. If you don’t have a suitable residence, you will be required to quarantine in Government-designated quarantine – fees may apply.

AUSTRALIA: Tighter lockdown restrictions announced for NSW

The NSW Government has announced that from 11.59pm on Saturday, 17 July 2021, people who live in the local government areas of Fairfield, Canterbury-Bankstown and Liverpool will not be allowed to leave those areas for work. There are several other major changes being made to the lockdowns affecting Greater Sydney, the Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Wollongong and Shellharbour. From 11.59pm on Saturday, 17 July 2021, many retail businesses will be forced to close - although, they will still be able to operate "click and collect", takeaway and delivery services. From 12.01am on Monday, July 19 2021, all construction will be paused and non-urgent maintenance, including cleaning services and repair work on residential premises will be paused.
